Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 uses perpendicular recording and comes with capacities of up to 750GB and with a five years warranty. With the 320GB model selling for around 100 euros it sounds like a very good deal. What I still need to find is a 3,5” case, so that I can use it as an external hard drive. My MacBook has no Firewire 800, so it will be quite slow if I use it with USB2.0 (480Mb/s) or Firewire 400. This bottleneck would probably undo all the benefits of perpendicular recording.
