The Best Research University In Romania

General Ranking 2007

  1. “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi
  2. Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca
  3. University of Bucharest
  4. “Politehnica” University of Bucharest
  5. Technical University of Iasi

Computer Science Ranking 2007

  1. University of Bucharest
  2. Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca
  3. “Politehnica” University of Bucharest
  4. “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi
  5. “Politehnica” University of Timisoara

In bold is the university where I graduated 2 years ago. The rankings were made by Ad Astra based on the scientific articles published by the academic employees of the universities in 2006, and the impact factor of the conference or journal where they appeared (more about the methodology).

An important aspect that is apparent from this ranking is that the Romanian universities are terribly bad at research. At the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi (the best in this ranking) the average publication rate is 0.3 papers / academic employee / year, and the whole Computer Science department published 11 papers in 2006. At my current department there are professors who publish more articles each year and with bigger impact then the whole department in Iasi.

Numai Gabriel Ciobanu are 12 articole publicate in 2006 care apar in DBLP:
